ASSA ABLOY names new president of its Identification Technology Business Unit

Former ORGA CEO Juan Garcia has been named the new president of ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology. Starting July 1, he will be responsible for ITG’s worldwide activities.


Walluf (Germany)–Juan Carlos García has been appointed President of ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology (ITG), one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of identification and RFID products. Juan García will have worldwide responsibility for ITG, reporting directly to Joe Grillo, Executive Vice President of ASSA ABLOY and President of the Global Technologies Division. He will start in his new position on July 1, 2006 and will be based in Walluf, Germany.

Juan García has over 20 years of professional experience and has served as CEO and COO at ORGA Kartensysteme, one of the world’s leading smart card manufacturers and today part of the Sagem Group. He has also held executive positions in other multinational companies such as Terex Atlas, GEA Ecoflex, Wittenborg, Raychem and Siemens.

“Juan García has demonstrated true leadership skills throughout his career. He has a diverse international business background including significant experience in the smart card market, which will serve him well in his new capacity. He will play a key role in building on the success of the current management team to further exploit the synergies among a group of strong brands, including Sokymat, ACG, OMNIKEY and VisionCard,” comments Joe Grillo.

Juan García holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University in Madrid, Spain and an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
