Emory University enables online campus card deposits via PeopleSoft system

An Atlanta university seeking to reduce the number of checks passing through its business office now allows its students – or their parents – to handle many of those financial transactions electronically via their campus ID card. The result has been a 50% reduction in walk-in traffic, freeing up staff for other purposes.

“We were wanting to reduce the amount of checks and cash we handle in our operation,” explained Dave Siegel, director of EmoryCard and Campus Life Technical Services at Emory University.

Tallahassee-based Florida A&M University and campus card service provider CardSmith have announced plans to upgrade the university’s multi-functional Rattler Card program.

The new Rattler Card will feature Rattler Bucks, a prepaid spending account offering FAMU’s more than 13,000 students cashless access to an expanded range of campus facilities and services including the bookstore, dining venues, mobile payments, campus offices and off-campus merchants.

U.S. Bank and North Carolina State University, Raleigh, have partnered to offer the Wolfpack One Card, a campus ID card that doubles as a prepaid MasterCard. The card will be offered to incoming freshmen beginning in June. Current students, faculty and staff can upgrade starting in October. As part of the contract, U.S. Bank will also deploy ATMs on campus.
