IBG awarded research contracts from DRDC

International Biometric Group (IBG) announced that it has been awarded two research awards by the Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) for their Public Security Technical Program. The research awards stipulate that IBG work within a consortium that also includes other Canadian government entities as well as select experts from academia and the biometrics industry to look at various biometric technologies that can be utilized for national security in the country.

Kena Kai launches new line of RF shielded wallets

California-based Kena Kai is launching a new line of wallets specifically designed to protect contactless cards from data theft.

The secret of the new DataSafe wallets is the multiple layers of radio-frequency (RF) shielding embedded in the material, which the company says can block unwanted “skimming” of personal information.

Toshiba gains rights to use Cryptography patents

Cryptography Research, Inc. has agreed to grant Toshiba Corp. use of their patents to enhance and expand its security products. Toshiba’s tamper-resistant products including smart cards, secure storage media and ASICs, work to protect systems against attacks such as Differential Power Analysis (DPA).
