Aix en Provence, France, March 16th 2004 - INSIDE Contactless is proud to announce that it has been chosen as a finalist by Card Technology Magazine in its Breakthrough Awards in the Innovation category thanks to INSIDE’s smartFilm™solution. The final winners will be announced at CTST 2004 on April 27th in Washington DC.

INSIDE has made it through to the finals of Card Technology Magazine‘s Breakthrough Awards in recognition of its continuous efforts to bring innovative products to a constantly evolving marketplace. The US commitment to safer border control & the recent tragic events in Europe requires extraordinary vigilance & INSIDE is very proud to play its part in presenting its technology in smartFilm™ to improve secure ID & safer travel.
In the innovation category, INSIDE has been nominated as a finalist together with 3 other companies: ENST for their EAP smart card, Sharp for their one megabyte flash memory chip and Mastercard for their Paypass.
Don Davis, Editor in Chief of Card Technology Magazine and one of the 11 judges for the awards states: “INSIDE has distinguished itself through the years as a company that can move quickly to develop innovative technology when a new market need arises. smartFilm™ is one more example of this agility, as it addresses the urgent needs of governments around the world to replace their more than half a billion passports with more secure documents.”
This is the first year that the internationally renowned magazine is organizing such an initiative. The Breakthrough Awards consist of 4 categories: Innovation, for the biggest advance in card technology in 2003; Implementation, for the most significant implementation of card technology in 2003; Integration representing the best example of combining technologies to solve a problem; and finally a Visionary award that recognizes the individual who did the most to advance the understanding and use of advanced card technology in 2003.
These four awards are being introduced in 2004 in order to better honor and showcase the technologies and individuals who are moving the industry forward. They will be given in April at the CTST 2004 Conference and Exhibition (April 27-29, Washington Convention Center, Washington, DC).
