Under The Theme "We’re Changing The Face Of Card Printing," Fargo Electronics Presents Two Card Printing Technologies At The NSBA Technology + Learnin

Wednesday, November 13, 2002 in News

DALLAS (November 13, 2002) – Under the theme “We’re Changing The Face Of Card Printing,” Fargo Electronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:FRGO) today presented two technologies – one entirely new – for printing and encoding identification cards for schools of all sizes at the National School Boards Association’s Technology + Learning Conference (Booth 2028) here at the Dallas Convention Center Nov. 13-15.

The conference combines cutting-edge national trends with local concerns and success stories. Based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Fargo card printer/encoders create personalized plastic identification cards complete with digital images and text, lamination, and electronically encoded information.

Fargo’s Professional Series CardJet™ 410 Printer/Encoder– the first dedicated plastic card personalization system that uses Fargo’s new CardJet Printing Technology™ – is a perfect solution for many schools, according to Kathleen Phillips, Fargo’s Vice President – Marketing.

“With the introduction of this innovative technology, Fargo is changing the face of card printing,” said Phillips. “Inkjet printers are durable, user friendly, and very familiar to most people. Our introduction of thermal inkjet printing for ID cards opens the door to thousands of schools, companies and organizations that previously could not afford a dedicated ID card printer/encoder.

“With a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,595.00, the CardJet 410 is very competitive with old-fashioned ‘cut and paste’ analog photo-based ID badge systems, particularly when time, labor, and card costs are accounted for,” Phillips said. “Features such as convenience, ease of use, virtually no maintenance, cost of supplies, and the professional appearance of the ID badges will make the CardJet 410 a clear winner with end users.”

Fargo’s Professional Series DTC525 – a dependable and affordable dye-sublimation printer suitable for larger organizations such as urban high schools – will also be shown at the Fargo booth.
